The seeds of leaders who joined Rotaract will celebrate the success and importance of their role from 14 to 18 March 2022. They called it “World Rotaract Week” as it is an annual celebration and this year’s celebration is the 54th. In Rotaract, 18 to 30 years of age people show their commitment as a member of Rotaract and build a good standing in the community. To have an eligible membership, you will be approved by the club, and after you are inducted and become a member, you will be known as ‘Rotractor’. Rotaract was established as an International organization of entrepreneurs and professionals with a social spirit to create an impact in communities around the world in 1968. Rotaract stands for “Rotary in Action”, originally comes from a combination of “Rotary” and “Interact” (International + Action). This is the high school level program created by Rotary International. From one man’s vision, Paul Percy Harris, a Chicago attorney established the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, for professionals from diverse backgrounds as a place where they can exchange ideas and build meaningful and lifelong friendships. Over time, the reach and vision of Rotary gradually extended to humanitarian service, and its members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world. Rotary has become a global network today consisting of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see the world as a place where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and themselves. That commitment endures today through an organization that remains truly international. Only 16 years after being founded, Rotary had clubs on six continents. Our members now span the globe, working to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems. With 46,000+ clubs, Rotary members put their act on the world’s most persistent issues, such as promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.
