The Philippines is one of the largest archipelagic states in the world consisting of 7,641 islands situated in Southeast Asia in the Western Pacific Ocean. The islands of the Philippines are classified into three main geographical areas, such as Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Bounded by seas and oceans, with numerous bays, gulfs, and islets, the Philippine coastline is irregular with a total length of the coastline is 36,289 kilometers. With that being said, the naval forces play a very important role for this maritime nation with one Philippine Navy.
