South Korea does not stop working with international quality. A new girl group from WAKEONE and Swing Entertainment is here to entertain K-Pop fans.
In December 2021, WAKEONE and Swing Entertainment has announced the girl group’s forthcoming project on the K-pop act’s fan café site. “Catch your eye, catch your mind. 안녕하세요, 케플러입니다! (Hello, we are Kep1er!)” that was how the girl group introduced themselves.
Kep1er consists of nine girls who ranked in the top nine at a South Korean reality competition show created by Mnet named the Girls Saga or Girls Planet 999. The girls are Kim Chaehyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yujin, Kim Dayeon, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo, Ezaki Hikaru, Sakamoto Mashiro, and Shen Xiaoting in order of the rank that was revealed on October 2021. They are representing Korea, China, and Japan who all shared the same dream.
Just on January 3, 2022, Kep1er released their first mini-album, ‘First Impact’. According to New Musical Express (NME) Asia, this is something that has been waiting for after WAKEONE and Swing Entertainment announced that one of their on-site staff members had tested positive for COVID-19 and the Kep1er’s scheduled activities were halted. The debut was postponed from its original schedule on December 14, 2021. Even Kep1er’s performance at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2021 got forced to be canceled to avoid any further possibility of infection and transmission.

Quoted from Music Mundial’s website, the duration of the group’s activity will be two and a half years which is a more generous period than that received by some of Kep1er’s predecessors on MNET.
