This world is a home for everyone. Humans are lives together for years on the same ground. Everyone must know, understand, and be aware of their rights and the rights of others. That’s the purpose of the existence of human rights. What must be ignored are nationality, place of residence, race, gender, national or ethnic origin, political or another opinion, property, religion, language, birth, or any other status. We are all same.
In 1948 United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Paris on 10 December 1948. Then, according to resolution 423 (V), the assembly just officially started Human Rights Day.
According to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the declaration was proclaimed as a “common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations”, and individuals and societies should “strive by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance”.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) became the international standard of human rights. It was drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, it set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights is protected universally.
On the day of Human Rights, all United Nations Member States are encouraged to make it even stronger and emphasize the relevance of Human Rights in daily lives. Every 10 December, Human Rights Day is observed. In 2021, this event’s theme is EQUALITY – Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights.
