A petition was made on this case via change.org, due to the unknown attacks that happened at the US Embassy in Havana, Cuba, and resulted in 21 US Embassy employees suffering a variety of injuries. This incident is unacceptable in the sentiments of the victims.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Cuba’s website, it makes the US State Department pull out all families of employees and nonessential personnel from Cuba, and stop routine and ordinary visas processing to ensure the safety of their personnel. Due to the staff reductions at the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has suspended operations at its field office in Havana.

Since 2007, there is a program called Cuban Family Reunification Program (CFRP) which allows certain eligible U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs) to apply for parole for their family members in Cuba. Quoted from U.S. Embassy in Cuba’s website, If granted parole, these family members may come to the United States without waiting for their immigrant visas to become available, and once in the United States, CFRP Program beneficiaries may apply for work authorization while they wait to apply for lawful permanent resident status.

The State Department and the Department of Homeland Security are determining arrangements for processing applications under the Cuban Family Reunification Parole Program (CFRP) as well. Quoted from the petition’s page, it was consequently to hundreds of relatives of US citizens and legal residents waiting for consular processing have been collaterally impacted by the attacks suffered by employees of the US Embassy in Havana, Cuba. Not only that, Immigrant visas for Cubans nationals also will be processed at the U.S. Embassy of Guyana. However, the CFRP continues without a solution.

Now, as said on this Twibbonize frame below, the “Consular Services In Cuba Continuen CFRP Restart CFRP Restart IV Processing No More Guyana Families Belong Together”.
